I had the opportunity to go for a spin the other day with a friend and his '68 Plymouth Barracuda. What a blast!! This baby has the 340 c.i.d. engine. Can you say "Involuntary wheel-spin"??? !!!! :laugh: It is really amazing how one misses the security of a seat-belt when none is available! :eeek: (This car is "as original"!)

woulden't fly here in N.Y. Seat Belts required (lap belts are enough). Even if not originally equipped.
I'm suprised it diden't have 'em. My 67 Galaxie had belts. I thought that was part of the "naderization" of 1967, along with padded dash/wheel, split system brakes, and collapsable steering column?
 
Actually, those cars don't handle too bad.
Brakes were a little weak, but they could be decent on a road course.
Mostly I guess because they were based on the Valiant/Dart chassis.....a surprisingly good car.
I saw Swede Savage and Dan Gurney drive the factory Trans Am Barracudas.
We have a local guy who autocrosses an old Valiant......he always does pretty well.

I thought that if it did not have them as standard that you did not need to put them in. My TD does not have them.

I'll double check on monday. It may have a cutoff point at a certian year (early-mid 50s)

NYS cutoff for required seatbelts is 1965 front seats only, 66 at least 1 in the rear seat, '67 and newer, belts for every seating position.
 
It's too bad Chrysler dropped the Plymouth line. With all the retro musclecar remakes these days, They would've had a ton of nice looking cars to choose from.
