66 Sprite Valance Question

I have a new valance panel. I need to drill holes in the lip to fasten it to the fenders (no holes in the new one), how does the curved bottom section fasten. Was the original panel spot-welded to the valance stiffener. Also in some pictures I see a metal post, vertical from the top of the hood-closing panel, in front of the rad. Is this something I need to find. Starting to think I should just order the complete front panel assembly.
Thanks Phil

i have the same valance. the valance is attached at the lip with two bolts. no welding required. if you have the bentley manual go to section R and the diagam " the wing components" the bolting is shown.

to answer your other question, there is a front stiffner in the middle of the valance. i bought the complete valance and the stiffner is there. i have never seen a front end without this. i have also never seen this sold separately.

Hello Fred,
I have a pile of manuals/ books but missed buying the benttley manual. Found some old pictures I took from a car meet, all the info was on the pictures. My valance is a mess no rust, but it is hacked up, to many extra holes and just realized the centre section was cutout and then bolted back together, I guess it made for a quick eng removal.(no support)I thought the centre section was original. Just called Moss and I have a brand new one coming, should be here first week of Jan. Now I have to tell my wife, honest last part I need.
Thanks Phil

been there and done that. the new valance is nice but keep the old one for reference. i found many holes not drilled and not marked. used the original valance as a template. somehow i'm believing this won't be the last time you say that to your wife.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. What's that old saying better to beg for forgiveness then ask for permission.
Hap just sent some very nice valance pictures, very helpful
Thanks
Phil
