66 beetle question for the beetle gurus

I am near to the end of a really horrible 66 beetle project. The shop that started to restore this car went out of business half way through the job. I have spent months figuring out what they had forgotten to do, done wrong, left off or whatever. I am down to the nitty gritty, and am sorting out the wiring. What I need to know, is how the ground lead to the horn attaches to the TS switch, and what parts are needed at the horn push. The brown wire disappears into a harness by the fuel tank, and never seems to surface again. I don't find it in the harness at the TS switch. What am I missing here?( there is the chance that the car had a remote horn push, but I still can't find the wire) I want to deliver the car this week if possible, and this is the last (known) hold up. Any help would be deeply appriciated!!

Haven't played with beetles for a while but believe the brown wire comes out someplace near the steering box-- still have old books at home and will check if you don't get a firm response.
 
Sorry I didn't see your post till now...I'm in the process of shutting down my VW repair/resto shop here in New Mexico and moving a short distance across the border into Texas. My old building is cold and customers are getting to be a pain. I've found a beautiful building that has a 75x40 showroom so I can showcase all my MGs, 911s and other toys I've built..and am building. If you haven't rectified your horn problem...write me an e-mail at jackq@plateautel.net...and I'll send you a simple diagram to repair yours. We've done at least half a dozen 66s in the past year alone and currently have five 66s in the shop. Seems to have been a very popular year. Jack
