MGB '66 B dash knob help

Here I am back again with another question. Thanks very much for the help the forum has given me as I work on my 1966 B project.
I am disassembling the dash and have taken everything off except the knobs for the vent and heat. I pushed the detent in, just as I did the other knobs on the dash and , unlike the other knobs, these will not budge. Is there something else that needs to be done to get these two knobs off the shafts? I tried to gently pry them off as I was pushing the detent, but no joy.
Thanks,
Charlie

I finally got the knobs off. It took soaking with PB Blaster, heat from a hair dryer and prying from side to side with small screwdrivers to do it. but it is done. Now off to strip the dash, primer it and paint it with wrinkle paint.

I'm glad they came off without breaking.

I love the look of wrinkle finish paint.

Glad you got them off intact. I seem to remember struggling with mine when I replaced them a number of years ago. Fussy things.

On reassembly, coat (THIN) the spring thingie with some bearing grease... likely you will be the next one to need to remove them. And if not, the next guy will thank you.

I do plan on greasing them. I also found some rough edges where the spring grove is cut into the shaft and I have smooth filed those edges down. I polished the shaft with emory cloth to make it as clean as possible. I sure don't want to go through the trouble of getting the knobs off that I did this time.
