Good morning...been building a '66 3000 for about 8 years(!) now....bought the car in boxes....on the road finally!...I have electronic ignition with negative ground and an alternator and am having an issue getting the tach to work....any ideas? New wiring harness installed and everything else works flawlessly. Thanks in advance, Mark.

Welcome to BCF, Mark! You’re in luck - we have a very active Austin Healey forum here! Tons of experience and experience to help you. Be sure to post any technical questions in that forum! Great group!

The tach is polarity sensitive. The car and the tach were originally positive ground. I thought that you would just have to reverse the leads on the white coiled wire, but there may be more to it than that. Norm Nock's Tech Tip book states the gauge needs to be sent out for conversion. An article on John Sim's 100-6 web site shows what needs to be changed - at least for the tach the writer was working with. Sorry that I can't be more definitive.
