Hello all. Purchased my 63 Sprite MKII, about 10 years ago from Texas (see pic). A beauty on the outside, but, like many of these cars, turned out to be a rusty mess underneath. Spent the next couple years cutting and replacing sheet metal, and rebuilding entire suspension and rear axle. Been a great "runner" since, but has always leaked oil. Recently decided to check into the oil leaks. Pulled the motor (1098) and tranny (ribcase) and found the "ring gear" had moved back on the flywheel and dug a nasty tear in the oil pump cover (see pic). (source of leak found!). Pounded the ring gear back onto the flywheel and placed welds to hold her tight... Currently determining next steps. Considering rebuild of the ribcase, will replace clutch parts and do a top down re-fresh of all gaskets and seals on motor. Clean up engine bay, and get her back on the road soon. Looking forward to getting to know some of you and seeing your projects come together as well...
