'63 Generator Wiring Question

So, my generator is rebuilt, painted & installed...not, I can't figure out which female spade connector is "F" & which is "D".....help!!!!
 
A clue, one wire is thicker than the other.

Second clue, one connection on the generator is larger than the other.

Third clue, if your wireing harness is correct it will only fit one way.

Forth clue, the fat wire is yellow, the thin one is yellow green.

Fifth clue, the yellow green wire is close to the block, the yellow wire is close to the ground.

Sixth clue, the yellow wire goes to D on the regulator yellow green goes to F on the regulator.

I'm out of clues, LOL.
 
Well, I didn't even look at the wires & connectors other than to see the colors were right.....but, relooking, you are absolutely correct! & the white wire left over goes to the distributor.

Who in the heck designed these little cars....I'm in the process of installing the radiator....what dummy came up with that idea!!

The problems when you modify a design to fit a new need, Tony. The radiator in the Bugeye is a piece of cake (same one as yours), since all the front body hinges with the bonnet. The underlying structure was not designed with the fixed wings in mind, so it wasn't optimized for it.

Oh, and it helps to have a few pixies or fairies nearby for their bitty little hands.

Boy you Army guys are good with clues. LOL.

I feel your pain with the raidator. I do have an extra if you screw that one up too badly.

No, I won't screw up the radiator but I already see we've got some paint touch-up to do on the panels on either side of the radiator!

How in the heck did they expect a grown man to get all that stuff to line up? Radiator has to line up with the part of the body that's welded to the front rails & the little panels on each side of the radiator have to align with both of them! I can get a screwdriver in all the holes to align them but as soon as I try to put that little 3/4"-long bolt through, something slips out of place!

I'm through for the day - gonna go eat some Cajun food!
 
Being a complete pragmatist rather than a concours fanatic, I can share my method.

Only use the top two bolts! They're easy to reach and plenty strong enough to do the job. AND, when you have to pull the radiator in the future, (and you will,) you're already half way there.
 
That's what I ended up doing and I ran the bolts through from the inside out (I think) and put nuts on from the front. It was easier to have the bolts sticking forward through the radiator's captured nut and wiggle the whole radiator/bolts through the various sheet metal bits, then but the nut on from the front.

The captive nuts are in the radiator so do you remove them or just run the bolt through them?

The hole on the passenger side has a grommet with wire through it for thelights/horns so its not easy to get the bolt through there! I would think you need all 4 bolts to hold the little metal pieces on either side of the radiator in place?
 
I thought you meant just hanging the radiator. those valence pieces i've never had out! the radiator itself has a couple of captive nuts down low.. skip those and use inch long or better up high..

IF i'm reading your problem correctly?
 
Yep, you're reading me right....I can align the upper holes through all the brackets & radiator with a screwdriver but cannot get a bolt started!
 
Tapered bolt is required and I think is original.
 
May be but the bolts that went with the old radiator won't fit the new radiator! Had to go buy 1/4"x24 bolts for this new rad.
 
2 bolts in on the driver side!! 2 to go on the passenger side! All day on this ---- radiator!
