Howdy! I’m working on a project and need an early MGB steering shaft, the 3/4-48 spline size. I just need about 6” or so, enough to weld onto another shaft.

Would the top 6" of the steering rack shaft work?
 
Thanks guys! I located one and the original steering shaft is being turned to fit inside it today.
