'61 Sprite on Ebay

I've been a Sprite lover all my life; owned a 1968 and sold it 3 years ago; a sad day to be sure. Here is one on ebay:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1961-Aust...1QQcmdZViewItem

Claims to be an original color, salmon, never saw it or heard of this color before. Did some research and found nothing. Any clues? From the pictures the car looks solid, but we all know about pictures on the Internet. And look at the title and warranty, ever see those before?

Thank -- Steve

Interesting car. Terry Horler's book has several photos of a MkII Sprite in that color which the factory called "Deep Pink".

A friend, (and forum member) a couple of blocks from me has one identical to this one. All original, "Deep Pink". He even has a can of original touch up paint for it.

My MKII was that color originally too. When I got it, it was red. After stripping the paint in some places I found that deep pink color underneath. Looks like a nice car! Ironically, mine is from Pittsburgh too.

Is surely worth the 5500 and some more.

There are a number of nice-looking Sprites on eBay recently.

A few look like the restorers knew hot to do it properly.

I may be looking for one soon. . . /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

H82WRK,

Did you see the actual car listed on ebay in Pittsburg? If so, what is the condition and is it as nice and "rust free" as the description notes?
