Evening:
Is there any real good way to determine wear or usability for tappets. I was thinking of useing the ones that came out of the original engine, course after all the other problems, maybe I should bite the bullet and buy new ones.
Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks, Tinkerman
 
If you put them cam shaft face to cam shaft face they should rock, as the faces should be convex. If there is any pitting of the faces they are trash and the sides should not be scored.

How about the pushrods? This is a 100K car so I guess I just should replace them also.

You will want to get some opinions on where to get replacements as there may have been issues (hardness?) with some sources.

If it were me I'd contact Ken G at British Frame & Engine (BFE) as a quality issue on this part could be an expensive problem.

if you want the ultimate lifters, schubeck racing will make ceramic lifters for $400. send them a sample to copy and you will never replace lifters-ever. they also help in reducing cam wear which is very good. i plan to send one of BP northwest's performance lifters with oil hole to them when the time (& $$$$) comes.I am considering requesting a oil groove at the oil hole for better lubrication.
