6 Stitches Later....

Okay, here's the story:

Last night I got the best night of sleep I've had in months....I mean deep REM sleep from which I never awoke from 11pm until normal time this morning...I don't even think I moved all night.....wonderful sleep.....however:

For some reason I turned over (probably to check the time) this morning & flipped right out of bed hitting my head on the corner of the nightstand.

Ripped my left eyelid wide open.

So, now I have 6 green stitches below my eyebrow close to my eye lashes......you really don't want to have stitches there - trust me! The stitches themselves didn't hurt but the Lydacane used to numb my eye was a real pain! The needle of course hurt but also the burning of the Lydacane & the freezing of the stuff my doctor put on my eye before she did the Lydacane injections.

I go back Monday morning to have the stitches removed so my 2-year grandson will enjoy them this weekend!

& I can't get out in the heat until they're removed...hehehe

But, every time this morning that somebody's asked me about it, my answer has been, <span style="font-style: italic">"You should see the other guy when he gets out of the hospital."</span> (& its funny how many people have believed me when I said that.)

OUCH! that story made me cringe. I'll see if I can "one-up" ya with mine...

I am currently a college student and was laying in the floor talking with my roommate. Being me, I always have to play with something, so I reach over and grab a solid ball made of brass, no clue wear it is originally from or what it was for, just a brass ball. It is a bit larger than a golf ball and probably weighs about a 2 pounds or so. I began throwing it in the air and catching it. After about the 7th throw the brass ball went close to the ceiling fan light constricting my pupils to where I could not see the ball. With both hands stretched out in attempt to catch it I felt it just bump my thumb and then my came down on my eye brow, 3 sutures later I was looking good with a nice shiner. So, I feel your pain, and also used the, "You should see the other guy", line. Thanks for sharing yours!

"This is what happens when a 3/8 socket falls into a spinning fan blade!"
"I told the guy for the LAST time, MG means Morris GARAGE - NO B!"
"No big deal, it's just an LBC.....little bitty cut!"

Rest up Tony and get better fast!

...or softer furniture...

So, turn on the air in the garage and get with it.

Doctor said she used green stitches so they'll stand out against my eyebrows when she goes to remove them.

Jack, I'm taking it easy as the eye is swelling a bit - keeping ice on it off & on....but I did experiment a little with a modification I've always wanted to do to a set of MGB taillights....photos next week as I think the 2nd step through.

My adult friends who've asked knew I was teasing about what happened....but the teenagers & local "outlaws" who've overheard believe it because of my reputation...one even asked what I did to the other guy (<span style="font-style: italic">"cracked his sternum & broke his nose"</span>, as I winked at the other old guys hanging out at the general store...&, yep, you guessed it: <span style="font-style: italic">"what's a sternum?"</span> hehehe")

Keep 'em guessin' Tony.

Hey, Doc, its better than having your house protected by ADT!

Tony, sure you fell out and weren't "pushed"?

As you say,Tony, you get to think on stuff when you get slowed by a crack on the head.
Just take it easy till you get the stitches out.

Stuart.

Oh, man, its started itching!!!!!1

ooof.

Itching is good, sign that the tissue is healthy and healing.

OOOOW! (That's from me and my other) When I was in my early 20's, was moving into my 1st apartment and stepped down from the bed of the truck, and broke my ankle (I still don't know how) I told people I broke it skiing. It was a lot easier than the real explanation. Hope you heal soon....its hard being out of the garage!!!

Woke up to a serious black eye this morning! Not to badly swollen though except for the eye lid where the stitches are. Jerri's now having fun with it! <span style="font-style: italic">"Well, Tony's always telling you guys I'm a mean woman. Now you know not to cross me!"</span>

Folks, I know Jerri - she can hold her own!

Itching means healing.
