6 door check noise

What's up with the 6 dock check straps sounding like mouse traps going of. Man, that drives me nuts! Anyway to fix/ stop them from doing that?

Ear plugs: They are loud, but they do hold the door open. One of the many quirks to get used to.

I hate it. Makes the car sound like a piece of junk. I'm concerned I'll have trouble seeling it like this. Nothing say junk like a noisey door.

When the door check goes bad and gets quiet, it will snap and then the door springs wide open, beyond the 90 degree angle and as TK says, that is not a good thing to happen. It's amazing how fast a fender will leave a dent the entire height of the door skin.

Been there done that.
Even have the palm mark on my forehead!

What..You mean this awful door strap noise is normal, and not my mistake during restoration...how stupid of me to be upset all these years, and to look so nonchalont, but feeling stupid , when someone near by admired the car and then heard that mouse trap sound... like a junk car is right, to quote previous posts! Thanks you all.

Robert, I hate it too, but there is no way around it that I know of.

Don't open the door all the way and it won't make the noise. I can get in and out of the car without opening all the way.

Jedi Knight,
Perhaps same as most small sport car owners our physical condition has simplified getting in and out with a partially open door.
