I had a 63 TR-3B, many years ago - it had a velcro type material glued to the bows between the webbing - does anyone know if this was original, and if so what year was it introduce - midnight

No velcro on my TR3A, and I don't think they made any changes to the top on the 3B, although I'm not authority on either. Tom

I thought Velcro was invented in the '60's..? These cars were invented in the '50's...

Well, the soft side of Velcro is reasonably similar to wool felt; which I believe was used on the top bows as a cushion between the metal and the canvas.

But if you found real Velcro, I think it must have been added by a previous owner. Maybe his top wasnt tight and he was trying to keep it from flapping around.

Bob Schaller (More BS about TRs)suggested using Velcro in the 80's. Probably your PO took his advice.
