58 Sprite progress

Well it's been about a month or so since I started the 58.
The one with no floors, sills, or frame rails.
All of that is finished as of tonight. FINALLY! seems like it took forever but then again I had some surgery in the middle of this all so I was slow going for a couple weeks.
The car was media blasted, new floors, sills, boot floor, and pretty much all the frame rails have been replaced.
The underside is in epoxy primer and I will be shooting the floor white tomorrow evening since it's still on it's side in the garage I can get to it real easy.
I hope to put it back belly down maybe Wednesday and start the body work.
All other bits and pieces have arrived, the dash is covered and all instruments are in it. front and rear suspension is powdercoated and ready to install as are the brakes.
I still have to do the interior but I already made all the panels, I just have to cover them.
Making all those patch panels gets to be old after awhile.
I did buy floors and sills but all the larger flat and smaller patch panels kept me busy with a brake, vise, snips, and angle grinder.
Maybe I'll get a picture of it with it's fresh white belly tomorrow.

So, now the race begins.....

Ain't no race, I loose.

But I do want to see pics. I just love to learn things about Bugeyes.

I have a plan and a flow chart, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Heh, also a fixed income.

Hey Jack, at least your income is fixed... I think mine might be broken! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Can't wait to see pictures, Frank. An amazing (to me, at least) back-from-the-near-dead resurrection. Wonderful to see another Bugeye getting back on the road.

Aw, man, I was hoping for a race....photo after photo coming online to the tune of the Bonanza theme song...

Gee I just finally got enough room and started stripping down the tub. Rear axle gets dropped out tonite. Everything else is removed. There is enough of the floorpans left to get good dimensions from, so I will make them. Later today, hopefully, I can fimd some material and machine into rollers for the strengthing ribs. Looks like the bulkhead strengthener will have to be purchased. I am waiting to see those pics. I need motivation really bad since this is going to take a long time before any major improvements start looking like real progress.

Here is a shot of the just painted underside.

Does your '58 have the flimsy radiator supports?

Yu are a brave and very skilled man, way to go.

My 58 has the whimpy radiator supports, I already re-welded them since they cracked in it's previous life.
No frame box around the rear wheel wells either but it does have the factory recall extra box welded in. You can see where it was added after the car was painted.

So did you beef them up or leave them "as-is"?
