I am refinishing a 53 TD.The customer wants the car painted British Racing Green. Was this an option in 53?I need a paint code or if anybody knows of a PPG Cross reference#.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Boy oh boy this took a lot of finding!

https://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_finishes.htm

Anyway, the upshot is that at that time, there was no consistent formula for the colours, so that even two cars from the same year of manufacture, with the same specification of colour and trim, could have had different shades of paint!

The colour of the grille slats was always the colour of the interior, in the cases where the trim was the same colour of the car, then body colour paint was used. Phew!

Welcome to our forum, there may be a few questions coming your way from the membership. You will be a useful man to know! Where in Wisconsin are you?

Thanks Steve,as of now I have a paint number for a british racing green that was used from 1958 and up.Still hoping I can find more information. Thanks for the help and I live in Burlington, a small town southwest of Milwaukee.
