A neighbor at my shop owns and operates a very busy car shop and engine exchange. Does mostly American stuff but once in a while gets a foreign car in. Yesterday he calls me and asks me over to his shop. There sat this very nice TD...and asked me the best way to convert it toa single carb. I told him if it were mine I'd just go thru the dual carbs and tweak it. He said being the carbs were venting over he was pulling them to make it a better car with a Weber....seems a shame...what do you all think?? I'll get a couple of pics of the car later today and post them.
 
Tell him not to do it. There's no need to ruin a car because he doesn't know how to fix it, and he should 'fess up and tell the owner so. Then they can give it to someone who does.
 
What Roger said. Adding a single weber carb isn't going to make it better at all.
 
Jack - Tell your friend before he butchers a good car, the check for 1) flooded floats in the float bowls of the carbs 2) check the needle valves for dirt and or work needles (both the floats and the needle valves are relatively cheap, especially compared to a Webber carb) and 3) see the article, Float Lever Drop in the Other Tech Articles section of my web site at: https://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/

My bet is that the float lever is dropping too far and jamming against the needle valve needle - a very common occurrence in the H2 carbs.

Is there even enough clearance past the grille prop rod or bonnet for a Weber?
