While the old seats looked fine.
(The top cover upholstery is excellent). I noticed more and more bits of rust, old padding and horsehair, in the carpeting.
i removed the newer coverings & discovered the problem.

after reading some post on foam replacements thru 2tall upholstery on eBay, I contacted them & ordered a full set of foam & pads for both seats.($135.00).
i have only replaced the bottom springs, as the backs still seem fine.

underside of the (3rd generation) current covers was printed with sharpie:
"vivo roso"........translates to : "eaten alive"....
Or possibly "vivo rojo" ="red hot"

Go figure? The upholstery covers are done very well.
And fit the new foam well too, so no reason to replace that.

had to trim down the new seat base boards by 1/2" all the way around.
sanded them down for a snug fit in the old frames, glued the shaped foam to the boards & the batting down on top with spray contact cement.
slipped the old covers on and stapled them down.

Haven't done a test drive yet, but they feel comfortable.
they seem to elevate you about 1/2" taller.
next I'll strip & clean up the old springs to see if they have any life left in them.

Went for an hours drive, & after 10 minutes forgot all about the new seats....pretty good sign.
