I just installed a "rebuilt" Datsun 5 speed transmission in my bugeye, but it pops out of 5th gear. Anybody have this problem before, or know what would cause it?

I see you are in SoCal, who did the rebuild? I was told of a place in the SFV called Box & Gear on Sepulveda and I had them re build mine. I haven't finished the car so I don't know how good it will work, but a friend had them do his Datsun g/b and he is happy.

my 5sp. popped out of 2nd and 4th untill I realized the shifter was hitting the sheet metal cup. Turns out I needed to cut and reweld the gear shift lever

It was rebuilt by the eBay seller - who lives in Colorado and won't return my messages.
