5 speed gear shift lever

Devin, I enlarged the shifter cover to fit the early MGB gaiter. I ordered the gaiter from MOSS.. After fitting gaiter size to the enlarged hole I Super glued it in.

This is what mine looked like.....used the MGB gaiter.

Kurt,
Take a look at the pictures I posted...I don't know if it shows up well, but the Datsun shifter is half again as big as the ribcase shifter.
Thanks, Rut

I see...didn't look at the enlarged pic before....those must be the ones that Gerard mentioned and the first time I had come across them. If you use the Spridget lever you won't have to come up with a method to replace the metric threads as I did either. Don't weld up the lever till after you have installed the trans though because you may want to add a little spacer to center it in the shifter opening better. I tacked and tried before finally settling on the right position.

I cut down the stock shifter cover to get rid of interference with the 5 speed lever.

Kurt

Thanks again guys, great advice!
Rut

I cut the Datsun shifter below the bend and spun it to center it. Cut above the bend to shorten the overall length. I don’t see any reason you couldn't use the top portion of a stock shifter. I considered that but did not want to cut up the stock shift lever.
I enlarged the hole in the shifter cover and used a 3000 center shift boot. Threaded a Bugeyeguy shift knob right over the metric threads.

I really like the shifter in 60FROG much better then the stock Bugeye one. It is much shorter and makes for really easy shifting in any gear.
By the way I should patent certain parts of 60 FROG since they make it to the screen quite a bit. "Just Kidding"

I shortened up the shifter in my BE and went a bit too far. Really have to concentrate to make sure you hit the gates so it is possible to go too far. Other than that I like the shorter lever.

Kurt.
