I know this sounds crazy, but did anyone drill a drain hole in the trans. case. I know there should be no leak but I guess I am use to oil dripping out of the bottom LOL.
 
There should be a "fill drain hole" & a "fluid level hole"

Guess I did not make myself clear. I mean at the front lower bottom of the case where on the original 4 speed case it had a hole drilled with a cotter pin in it. so that the oil leaking from the crank could get out. I know it has a seal now with the Rivergate kit but if you did have a leak where would the oil go.
 
Then yes, I drilled a hole in mine. No cracking that I'm aware of.
 
I didn't in mine, but probably will when I pull the engine and transmission back out for repair.
 
Well I guess it can't hurt to have one then. Jim what happened that you have to pull the eng. and trans. back out. hope nothing bad.
 
Al, I don't think you need to drill a hole. If you are talking about a Datsun tranny, there is a small slot in the very front of the bellhousing where it meets the rear engine plate. When bolted up, it leaves a small gap for oil to drip out of. It's not real big, only about 2 mm wide by about 1-2 cm long.
 
Mine must have been clogged, because oil weeped out of the hole I drilled. I wished I realized that slot was there.
