So nice and neat!! Great job Elliot!!

After seeing your work Paul, I appreciate the compliment. Your work is the best!

The eagle gate is a simpler set-up IMHO,have installed two of them to date, and have had no problems. The shifter is supplied with the kit and fits right to the toyota box.

Elliot, while your at it ,put in a shorter shifter. I think someone makes one

You could use one from a TR3...they are much shorter...more like a toggle switch.

I like the HVDA shifter setup as it uses the original TR shifter and is located in the same spot, not 2" back. So no tunnel mods to make either.

Elliot, you didn't mention trimming the rubber gasket under the shifter housing. Did you?

Also don't forget to install the rattle spring and ball on the TR shifter base (as original).

I also see that you are using 8mmx30 allen head bolts instead of the hex heads to bolt the shifter housing down. Much easier to tighten than the hex.

I have the HVDA set-up also, and one thing you can say about Herman is that he thought everything out and engineered it very well. However "complicated" the shift lever adapter may appear, in practice it works very well indeed. There wasn't anything about the conversion that caused me any problems what-so-ever during or after the install.

The purpose in posting my progression photos is merely an informative one. I was not, and am not making any comparisons what-so-ever to other kits. Comparisons are up to the buyer and are done on an individual basis.
For me its a moot point about the shifter setup. All I can say is that it was easy to do, and as Art says, "it works".

Peter- Yes, I did make the mods to the rubber gasket under the shifter... see the first photo above... it shows it!
Also, rattle spring and ball have been kept... thanks.

I bet ya dollars to doughnuts that B&M makes a slick short-throw shifter for that tranny.

You might owe me a doughnut Pete....
I just looked at the B&M site and did not see anything listed for Toyota under the manual transmission... seems odd.
Have a look: https://www.bmracing.com/PRODUCTS/Manual-Shifters_3
Jelly would be good
