Getting ready to install the 1275 engine and Datsun transmission in the Bugeye and I had a LUK brand clutch assembly previously, but it went up in smoke. Any recommendations for a complete clutch assembly? LUK, Exedy, ?
Thanks, Rut

Mines all boxed up with a bunch of stuff stacked up on it. If no one answers by Saturday am I will tell you what I have.

Jim,
Thanks, lots of choices out there...here are a few examples:
Alto. $42.31
Sachs. $25.00
LUK. $47.79
AMS. $62.79
Exedy. $84.20
Borg Warner. $48.79
Brute Power/Perfection. $47.79
All are full kits with pp, disc, tob, pilot bearing, and alignment tool.
Thanks, Rut

The Datsun clutch system is so much better than the 1275 unit that almost anything will far outlive it!
I always use whatever Rockauto sells cheapest and none of them has worn out yet (after MANY years)

Bill,
Thanks for the info and it looks like LUK and Exedy are popular clutches on the Datsun sites...I ordered the LUK since I had one previously and the quality was good.
Thanks, Rut

Mines the same that came with the kit 8 years and 20,000 miles ago same as the day I put it in
now watch it will fail tommrow

????
Rut, I thought you were asking the question about quality of clutch assemblies because you were unhappy that your previous LUK clutch had "gone up in smoke." And, unless you had put 80,000 miles on it or more, or you were a clutch-rider, which I think extremely unlikely, it would seem that the LUK was of poor quality. And yet, it seems you have ordered another. This puzzles me.

What's the deal?
--The_architect aka, NYCCharlie who answered your question on the MG Experience, I like my Exedy clutch, but who knows which is best?

Charlie,
Poor choice of words on my part, but two days before Thanksgiving last year my shop burned taking all the restored parts for the Bugeye and two TR4as along with the 5 speed trannies, kits, tools, etc. I didn’t mean to give the impression that the LUK brand was of inferior quality, I just wanted to make sure the new clutch was a good one.
Thanks, Rut

Oh yes, now I remember you reporting on this tragedy. I commend you for strength and courage to start all over again. Can't be easy. Good luck with all your projects!

Anyone happen to have a part number for the LUK or Exedy kits? Want to put new bits in while I have it apart but having a heck of a time finding the right kit.
