5-0 comes thru

Last year I swapped my 8 over to a manual rack at my friends garage (where he does some part time car maintance work) and left the rack in his garage. I found some one looking for the rack to have it rebuilt and went to retreive it and the power steering pump and pulley but he had a break in at the garage and it was gone. He lost some tools, a few car parts laying around, and my rack. He reported it to the police but the police said it was not likely he's ever recover anything.

Fast forward a few months a local policeman was looking on craigslist and found some one advertising a few unknown Triumph car parts for sale. He called and went over and the guy said he had the parts given to him and he beleived they were from a TR7. A trip to the local police station and few hours of interogation and he was arrested and I had my leaky rack back and my friend his tools.

The guy had been to the garage to have some welding done on his car and must have cased the place. Idiot advertised in the local Craigslist, and how many TR7/TR8s could be in the area. And he wanted $300 dollars for it! That might be a crime in itself. He was running a used parts junk yard.

Rack one up for the good guys.

Congrats. If you do sell it, let us know what you get for it. I have three of them in my basement and another one I lent to Woody to use as his core for rebuilds. I was thinking about selling a couple of them off. I like the manual racks much better.
