Converting to ceramic coated headers is a logistical PITA for the most part. It also runs in to some serious money, especially if your having some one else doing the welding & install.
But, I must say the acceleration performance is improved.
even starting the engine is much easier.
i purchased the mid length header from BPNW, for about $400.00.
took them into a local shop ( that isn't a LBC specialist, but a good conscientious mechanic none-the-Less).
after a trial fitting, which required modifying the down pipe slightly, by indenting the pipe to clear the flange of the oil pan, I sent the headers off to Jet-Hot in NC for silver polished ceramic coating.
the cost was $230.00 for inside & outside coating.
my original plan was to coat the intake manifold as well for heat control. But I can do that later if necessary.
had a lower left back stud break off, but the mechanic was able to extract it & replace it with the proper size.
had to modify the exhaust pipe, cut out & replace a weak section and weld in the flanges. So the mechanic labor was an impressive $660.00, but they also stored my car inside for about a month, while waiting on parts & holiday delays. So I am ok with the increased charge.
The ceramic coating looks good.
