A '76 TR6 fetched $46,200.00 last week at the Amelia Island Gooding auction. Stupid-looking yellow paint job with black stripes. Check out some of those prices the the Amelia Island auction website. Would you believe a VW Beetle owned by Jerry Seinfeld went for - are you ready - $121,000.00! And those Porsche prices...

Sounds like a good price for an original car with under 9000 miles in excellent condition. After a quick look over the pictures the only things I see wrong are the trim rings, the placement of the Union Jack on the front fender next to the factory stripe kit, and the removal of the over-riders. It does come with O/D, and hardtop. I know a guy here in AZ that paid over $75000.00 for a car with less than 500 miles. I would say well bought.

Very special cars often bring very special prices. The Beetle in question, according to Jalopnik, had "15,500 miles from new, totally original and unrestored." The is really nothing like it for comparison. Of course, since the auction estimate was $35k, it fooled the experts, too.

OK Tom - how much would you pay for a Beetle? I owned 2 of them at various times. I guess I should have kept them...

More realistic. Probably not a bad car to run around town in although the ones I had blew all over the road driving on the Interstates.
