43 years later and still appropiate

Only for that time and place.

... for which it was written.

And I find myself trying to identify all the wrecks in the video. Lesse...VW beetle,.....
good song. heck of a message. still has meaning all these years later.

Anyone else remember its being banned in some areas?

That outfit he's wearing is on the Eve of Destruction...

I'd call it the Day After at this point.

We won't have to lock this if we keep to the rules, folks!

I'm amazed that it was banned again later... just incredible.

but what they have to say about Louie, Louie:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:] ....the investigations finally concluded with the concession that the lyrics couldn’t be considered “pornographic” because they were “unintelligible” at any speed. Now that’s rock ‘n’ roll! [/QUOTE]

is priceless....

Left handed censorship. Creepy.

I agree 100%. Don't bother me one little bit, just pointing out that over the years we've decisions (ref. beating a dead horse) about protest songs.

According to the “rules” we’re supposed to avoid politics. Protest songs are by their very nature “political".

Just sayin’.

One wonders if it has meaning to these guys (PM me for video- too graphic to post)...only upon request.

I found it a bit weird, revisiting it after all these years!! It meant a little more in the context of the times! My vocal cords hurt just listening to his voice strain. Identifying the cars in the video was fun...the dancers struck me as "odd!" from todays' perspective!!

Yep. But I'm letting it stay (for now). I have my opinions too about "things" but I'd have to ban myself.

PS: I alway love posts that start "I hope this doesn't offend anyone."

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but...??? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

I think a lot of people took this in the wrong way. It may have been a protest song but the way that I took it is that with all the strife and conflicts all over the world we are slowly destroying ourselves. And I lived in Northern Ireland for 27 years.
