$40K Bugeye on eBay

Ok, what was the engine size supposed to be in '58? I thought they were still 948cc? I know you can do what ever you want with your car, but to list as museum quality shouldn't it be original?

Wow! $40,000 for an old Sprite!
Anyone want to buy my much-newer Sprite?
Special today....only $39,000!
Act now and I'll throw in a free case of oil!

I think we should wait til it sells then unload all of our old unneeded stuff to the idiot. I have a genuine, "museum quality" after-market steering wheel from a '70's era VW dune buggy that I removed from my Bugeye. It would probably be the perfect period accessory for his $40K Bugeye...and I would be willing to part with it for only $500.00. I also have a crapped out radiator that he could have for $1000. I think all of my old stuff is museum quality. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Perhaps his significant other has told him to sell his pride and joy. So he's complying with their request (sort of). He has it for sale, but it might be for sale for a long time. It's not his fault nobody wants to buy it.

My bet is the guy thinks it should be worth what he paid to restore it (to museum quality, no less) plus a bit. Ooops.

Nial,
Would you be willing to sell your great little car on the easy payment plan /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif? Something on the order of low down payment and monthly installments till 2054 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. I would rather spend too much for yours than the one on ebay /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif. But $40,000!Thats too much even for a big Healey! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
jv
P.S. Is that case of oil Castrol?

Sure!....But I'll need 90% down!

Castrol, Oil of Olay, virgin olive oil.......whatever you want!

DOes the museum piece have to have the original speedo and tach? What about an original color without a strip down the middle? If his wife wants him to sell it and he jacked up the price that high I don't blame him because bugeyes are fun to drive and almost everyone out on the road notices you.
