TR6 4 Nearly New TR6's @ $40K each

Hemmings has 4 TR6's from a private collection listed in the January issue. One or two have less than 100 miles, the others are less than 300 (if my memory serves me well..)
A couple have hard tops. They are priced at $40K each.
Considering the amount some of you have tied up in your cars these may be reasonable prices.
I tried to pull these up on the Hemmimgs link, no luck. I think they only post the previous month.

Sorry guys. I posted the same thing twice. Haven't gotten a grip on this new format.
I deleted the duplicate post.

I will bet no one in the forum would ever consider paying $40K for a TR6, but some end up spending that much through the nickle and dime method. You would have to wonder what 30-35 years of sitting would do to a car assuming you would buy it to drive, and how much that would cost on top of the $40K?

Hmmmm, I wonder. I do know that Paretti Imports in Metairie, LA, still has two untitled TR6s, both with hardtops. I wonder if someone got their hands on them. They weren't a white and a BRG, were they? Also has Ltd. Ed. MGB.

Both TRs have under 100 miles and have never been titled. Geez, technically they could be 2007 TR6s, right?

you gotta think, what else can i buy for ... $40K before you drop it on a TR6. That's nearly 3 really nice used TR6s

Agreed, for $40k doors start to open on other, let me be correct here, equally desirable cars; a big Healey, or perhaps an E-Type coupe? Or a new Elise? Heck, you could get a new G35 coupe, save $6,000, drive it all year with 300hp, and have an air conditioner to boot.

6's are appreciating, but other options are more attractive at $40k.

I'd be inclined to say: A car in near-new condition (as far as the parts and wear)for $40K would be a great "price of admission". The whole thing would need to be disassembled and refurbed, but(!) there would be an original ~everything~ to work with/from... not the worst scenerio for a really nice end-result, IMO. Especially considering what we go through to bring worn and tired examples back to as close to the intended design as possible. It would likely exceed the "value" of the car now, but if gasoline is still available in a decade it would be a remarkable classic.

...but my sole purpose in life is to be the best example of a bad example: "Whatever HE does, do the OPPOSITE!"
