3rd brakelight installed whatcha think?

Thanks to you guys for the help in wiring my 3rd brake light. Here is a picture of the install. Both lights work but the picture looks like only 1 is on.

What I did was:
Roll bar is cosmetic only, had a friend at a muffler shop bend a piece of tailpipe and weld floor flanges to bolt to floor.
Bought a roll bar cover on ebay for $22
Bought a piece of 1"square aluminum square tube.
Bought 2 end caps. Bought a Triumph nameplate on ebay $8.
Bought a set of universal Hyper-lites on ebay for $25
And put it all together. My Miata seats set all the way back do not allow for the standard rollbar so although mine is cosmetic only, I think looks good and serves a function. The Hyper-lites flash for a few swconds then stay steady on while foot is on the brake.
 
Certainly looks more integrated than mine.

But what I mostly think is that if our cars are to be driven in every-day traffic among SUVs, cell phone users, inexperienced drivers, people in a hurry, etc that it is prudent to have some sort of auxillary brake lights high & bright such as you have.
 
Forgive me for a rather bold comment (to follow now:smile:: in my view it may serve it's purpose, but I would not have done it (edited as per below comments, I'm flexible). How can you do this to you car?! The roll bar is already terrible as it is, and adding this makes me wanna weep (good enough!) . On other words, I think I don't like it.

Roofy, don't worry about it. One mans opinion and he is definitely entitled to it.

I don't think jobster likes it, sorry. You probably don't have 7,000 lb SUV's riding your tail like we do in the US drivin by housewives on cell phones with a load of sceaming kids. Probably in the Netherlands you have to worry about steering around yaks, or yodilers or something, maybe herds of sheep ? Hope you didn't (edit) weep.

That's a good job!!
It is very attractive and purposeful.
If everyone liked it, then you wouldn't be in this world anymore.
If I get a rollbar in my car, I may steal this idea.
Traffic here dictates safety is of the highest concern

You're new to this forum. You are entitled to your opinion, but try to keep the comments a bit less scathing. This is not the typical on line car forum. We all get along and help each other without getting personal or vicious about it.

Someday you may need help and you may find replies to your request to be either as sarcastic as what you just said or totally absent altogether.

For your info- My muffler guy attemped to make a cosmetic
roll bar for the rear windshield I have designed. He failed
pretty badly. I am going to have one fabricated by the marine
shop that worked on my tarpon boat.

That's as soon as my car is capably of a 2 1/2 hour drive.

BTW: I installed a prefab roll bar and made it somewhat operational by mounting 8 lag bolts and a 1/4" steel plate.
Very simple application, cost effective and functional.

I'm a "it's my car, I will do as I please" kinda guy. I also do not care what others do. Some guys are total purists and that's cool too. Without an expensive frame off my car is a nice driver and that is what I want. Safety is more important to me than 100% original.
 
Roofman, Brosky and Tinster, 1st of all I have edited my post. No wish to offend anyone here. And yes although I may look new here, I have been following this forum for over a year and only signed up after buying a TR6 myself.
Roofman, you asked for an opinion, I gave one. Will be careful in choosing the right words though next time. I am by no means a purist, TR6's are for driving (although Tinster may have a different opinion, but he's getting there)and whatever original, OEM or non-original part it will take to make it drive better, I'll take it. This roll bar is a different story. You will be amazed how many 7000lb SUV's we have here, incl. the plastic fantastic overhauled blondes behind the wheel and the bunch of screaming social defunct kids in the back. Don't even think they will notice these tiny lights. The roll bar only adds more time to saw you out of your car (as it will wrap itself around your neck) in case one of these SUV plough into your trunk.
The Netherlands is not known for its yaks, yeti's or whatever Nepalese animals spring to your minds. It's rather flat, and there are lot's of cows, and therefor milk and cheese. Other than that we have the tulips, and not to forget a rather liberal softdrugs regime. The latter may be the reason so many US-citizens visit our country.
In any case, I still don't like the roll bar, with or without the lights. It simply is not adding anything to a TR6. But as usual, some like the mother, some the daughter.
