JP, I know what you mean by being a little scary. If they made them small enough to carry in the car, just think, if your water pump went bad, just print a new one, or what ever! On the other side of the coin, criminals will figure a way to use it for their benefit. Does the good outweigh the bad? Good question.
A new ear by using cells from a donor? Are we entering the humanoid age where body parts can be made at the push of a button? Not the metal parts for joints or bolts and screws to hold things together, but live tissue body parts to replace a bad ones. There could be serious ramifications developing here in the eyes of many. I'm a science advocate, and hope only good comes out of this device, but I don't think that's going to happen. JMHO. PJ

JP, Are you using Stumbleupon?? I keep getting a blank screen saying it's downloading Stumbleupon when I click on your links. I don't have it anymore, I removed it from the laptop. PJ

Nope - not sure why, just pulled straight from the techbeat.com website

Ah, it was my browser! Fixed! Sorry for the fuss. PJ

Couple of problem here JP. First off, it's a 22 and the BIGGEST one I've ever seen. Secondly, you can't "print" gun power from nothing. Thirdly, you can already make BOTH a 22 caliber OR 9mm FULLY AUTOMATIC machine gun from stuff purchased at your local hardware store.......without the use of a $8000 printer.... You're more likely to be "assaulted" with boiled cat urine than a printed weapon in any form. Thirdly, a knowledgeable person could level you and your neighbor's houses with just the stuff you have in your garage. BTW, they already make an adapter to fire a 22 from a flare gun so no $8000 printer needed. Don't believe the hype JP. The only ones "threatened" by 3D printing...is manufactures...which makes a fella wonder... My biggest problem is the kid calling it a Liberator which it is not. THIS, is a liberator: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FP-45_Liberator (and you could make one yourself outta car parts with the tools you already have . :hammer: ) Feel better now?

I prefer pouring my bullets out of lead, its a whole lot cheaper and I imagine quicker.

I wonder how heavy the body on the DB4 replicar will be.

I remember reading that the Aston Martin that was destroyed in the Bond movie Skyfall was duplicated on a 3-D printer.
