39 Years

My Wife just made it 39 years at the hospital (IT department)
where she works,& was told today that she no longer has a job.
A company called Provident "merged with them,so a lot of local
employees are losing there jobs.
She does get severance pay,so a lot of decisions to be made.
We might end up moving to Tennessee,or thereabouts.
It's still sinking in.

Sorry to learn of the sudden sea change. Went through a similar "surprise" about five years ago. No fun.

Be analytical with the decisions, no knee-jerk reactions.

hope she had some notices/warnings along the way, so it wasn't a total surprise to her.

Sorry to hear of your wife's misfortune. I went through a similar transition about a year ago when the Prime Contractor we were subs to lost their re-compete. The new company that won the prime contract already had their subs in place so we were no longer needed. Several people in my group were sent packing. Been "retired" ever since.

By today's standards, 39 years of service is remarkable.
I hope she gets a severance pkg. that fully reflects her tenure.

Thanks everyone! We'll survive,just thought this would happen
a few years down the road.
The good news (?) is that I'll be forced to get rid of excess cars/parts.
She'll be getting a severance package,so we still have time
to make the big decisions.
I'll be at the same job for 44 years,in October,but would need
to find a job if we moved.Safeway isn't in every state.
