37 years ago this month the BugEye went on its maiden voyage to northern Maine from Downey, Calif. Fresh paint then.

And now how it looks. All this time and she still needs some TLC. Been a fairly productive winter.

Very nice!

Very sweet!!
What's the spot above and back of the front fender?

Thanks guys. Rick, its a vent for the bonnet. Been messing around a long time for these.
And a special thanks to Randy Forbes for his write up on Rally Vents.

Congratulations!!!
I like the pure BRG, like the one I had some 30 years ago. I think mine was a TR color.

Very Nice! Fill us in on the cut-out in the bonnet. Looks like a "Big" Healey.

Oldly enough 50 years ago, next Sunday I made the journey from Bloomflield Ave in Bellflower (not far from Downey) to where I am now.

Wow, very nice! Do you have a color code for the paint?

Paint is PPG Single Stage. PPG Code ARGGN15. Leaf Green supposedly.

Howdy leecreek,

I was just passing thru & wanted to say; "I love that Leaf Green" color. If I ever have another Bugeye (Probably Not); I`d look for one in that color or have it repainted that color.

"Super Nice Looking".

Best Wishes,

Russ

Love the wheels, too. Seem a little darker in color than the more standard silver ones. What sort are they?

Drew, They are labeled as 'Mistral Mod'. I really do not know much about them. Google takes me to Ferrari\Maserati stuff so maybe they are from Italy. Maybe my brother will chime in as he bought them quite a few years ago.

Thanks, Lee. They look great on your car.

The wheels were purchased in '85 from SEVEN Enterprises in Newport News, Virginia before they changed coasts. The four on the Bugeye were hand picked from a shipment from Italy that was scattered all over their warehouse. Custom made center caps from McLeod's British Cars, Maumelle, AR. All four of the wheels had to be turned on a lathe before they would fit correctly on the Bugeye, the backside (center hole) of the wheel had too small a diameter and would not mount flat on the hub.

Boy that's a lot of work, though the wheels do look nice.

Drew, FWIW. I have only put an eyeball on one (1) other set on a Bugeye. And they were on a Red one with white stripes from Illinois at the 50th in Missouri at Lake of the Ozarks.

I'm holding out for a charcoal grey set of VTOs from Hap. They're in the pipeline, but not out yet as far as I know.

Who am I kidding -- I'm really holding out for money to pay for the new wheels.
