Is there a name for chrome strip that goes on the bonnet when using the recessed grill? Where can I get it? Do any other grills cover the front of the bonnet like this?

Pic of the grill im on about:

Im running twin SU HIF carbs which have overflow pipes. Originally they had some nasty rusty pipes running from the carbs to the bottom of the engine. Is there a nicer look alternative to this? I was thinking of running some rubber pipes from the carbs to an old washer bottle (or something similar).

Lastly can anyone point me in the direction of a guide to painting. I intended on buying an air compressor and spray gun to do a few little bits and don't know where to start.

The chrome strip is called the "hood front edge finisher". Its available thru Moss or VB...check with your distributor for pricing (& if you don't have a distributor from whom you order, PM me).

On the MGB, only the recessed grille covers the front edge of the hood with a chrome finisher.

Here's a handy tech tip on body repair & painting: https://www.theautoist.com/body_repairs.htm

Skip the washer bottle part...that drain tube is to let overflows run down away from the hot engine parts. Capturing it in a container will only create a fire or explosion hazard. Let it run to the ground. You will know if it is over flowing when you smell gas when the carbs flood.

Copper tubing makes a nicer overflow than rusty steel. Sorry I don't have a better photo but you can see one of them in this shot.

Yes copper looks quite good.

Thanks for the replies guys, that painting website is very useful.
