Thinking of getting ready for a winter project does anyone know the difference between the one's sold by Welch and the one's sold by A-H Spares there is a bit difference in price is it an easy install or does it require special tools ,also forgive my ignorance how does a limited slip diff compare
 
Try e-bay or similar. There are often 3.54 diffs on the market. DWR do their own engineering and generally I would say they are probably better quality. They used to supply AH Spares with some specialised engineered parts, but no longer do so.

A limited slip diff is an add on and not related to the ratios in the diff. Its purpose is to allow drive to continue to the grounded rear wheel when the other is airborne on on a very slippy surface. You don't need one on a road going Healey.
 
There may be some Lempert 3.54 gear sets still around.

Installation requires shimming/adjustment and knowledge usually beyond home mechanics.

I removed my pumpkin and had the install done by a rear axle shop. The guy said the Healey axle is "same as a chevy full-floating" - so nothing different about it.
