2nd tranny rebuild inprog

i have 2 reasons for doing this. the first is that i don't like 2nd gear on my first rebuild. it doesn't mesh as nicely as 1st, 3rd, and 4th and i am concerned something is wrong. the second is that i have enough "good" parts to put another tranny together as a spare. i can also then compare the action of 2nd gear to my first tranny rebuild.
.
another reason would be that i have a bunch of parts on my bench which i don't want to bag and forget, fresh knowledge on rebuilding these, and the enough extra time to put another together.

Oh goodie a fresh spare. Nice feeling.

Now for a back up engine, lol.

And then a back up tub.

Soon no spares left at all.

Good deal Fred

well i do have a 65 sprite and that tranny is frozen solid. had to smack the shifter to get it out of it's pocket. i just figured it was better to put another together than to dump a bunch of parts in a box.

And you are absolutely right. A new rebuilt tranny is worth haveing, a box of tranny parts, sigh.

Good luck, hope the second one goes nice and smoothly. You're and expert now!

i would like to think i am now smart enough to rebuild one, but until second gear works like i expect, i will hold judgment. i will say though that after doing one, it really isn't that bad.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif After putting it off for fear that it was "beyond" me /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif , I walked away from my first one feeling the same way /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif !!! The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when you overcome the nervousness is well worth it, as well as having a working tranny, hehehe /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif !!

it is a nice feeling. there are no longer any mysteries left to this car for me, only mini-series!

Great

I had to take three apart to put my first one back together, granted I was 15 and inpatient.

After that they were a piece of cake.

Granted there is a box stuffed somewhere with alot of cogs in it.

Fred great work, I hope second is to your liking.

A spare box seems quite sensible, but then I do have a spare BMW 7 series sat in one corner of the garage... you know, in case a bulb pops or something!
