29 hours, 1194 miles, 33 gallons of gas to Montana

I took Blue Bonnet to Montana, its new home, last week. The driving was divided up between three days.

The weather was extremely hot, 105 in many places. The car ran without a hitch. Used one quart of oil on the trip. Engine temp indicated usually between 190 and 200. Hung around 220 for about 100 miles heading up Columbia River with that 30mph tail wind and 100+ ambient temp.

On the way I briefly joined Healey Rendezvous in Klamath Falls. They were surprised to see me on Thursday. They bought me a beer, chatted a while, and then I hit the road again. Great People!

Also, I stopped in Orofino, Idaho. Their annual Show and Shine was going on. I registered and won the award for the farthest distance travelled to their show. It was a great trip!

Enjoy the pictures:

BrianN:

Thanks for sharing your driving adventure to the great state of Montana. The pics are wonderful. I especially like reference to Lewis and Clark Expedition - they proceeded through Lolo Pass after crossing the Bitterroots -what a great adventure. Are you leaving N. California for more northern climes or just relocating the car? If you returned to the Bay area, then you probably know it's raining right now!

Cheers and beers in your honour...GONZO.

nice trip and very nice car you have there. is the red interior with light blue paint a standard color combo? my very first car was a white 59 bugeye, I bought it when I was 16. I nearly bought a light blue car, but at $750, it was a bit out of my range.

Hey Brian,

I WAS suprised to see you in the parking lot in Klamath. Perhaps well run into each other at the Historics or one of the local runs.

Brian - Great pics, where in Montana is Blue Bonnet's new home?. The state certainly has the roads that she can certainly enjoy in the future

Blue Bonnet is in my son's garage in Missoula. I ran out of space here in Capitola. He has two garages and only one car. He promised to take car of it and drive it regularly. Tough commitment!

Drove there Thursday-Saturday. Flyfished with Andy Sunday-Tuesday and flew home Tuesday night.

Great trip!
