28 year old Triumph that is. Got back from a business trip and the new-ish SUV was dead.

Uh oh, need to go get the two kids.

No problem, take a cab home and try to start the other new-ish car. Dead battery there as well...

TR8 to the rescue! She fired right up, made two trips since she only fits one car seat, and gathered up the kids.

My 2 year boy had never been in the TR8 before and walked around all last night going vroom vroom!

My 5 year old daughter ask me this morning "Dad, I want to take the flat car to school today!"

Ya need to sell off the SUV and the car.
Both are unreliable.

Go purchase twin Jeeps. Jeeps always get you home.

I am glad to hear of a Triumph being triumphant
and saving the day.

regards,

d

When mine was about that age, she dubbed the TR3 the "fast car"

When I returned from a 1200 mile weekend rally to Ireland in my TR3, I got into my 18-month-old Honda to be greeted by warning lights telling me that the Vehicle Stability Assist and ABS were non-operational. The hand book advised that I shouldn't drive the car, other than to the dealers!! I had to laugh and wonder how I had survived the previous four days in the TR without any safety features!!
I have had to use the TR a number of times when the moderns have let me down.

There is a reason I drive my 61 pick-up for my daily driver.

About two months ago someone gave me a '91 Jeep, but I had to pick it from 225 miles away. The Jeep had been sitting for two years, of course it made it home.

I drove my CJ5 to work the other day. After calling for a ride home, it still sits there..... I got it fixed today, now I gotta make a 2 person run to bring it home.
P.S. Not totally the Jeeps fault. It was the second-rate Rebuilt alternator I had in it. I mistakenly installed that unit before I found the real problem(broken wire) last spring. So naturally, 7 months later, when the new alt takes a dump, I put the old one back in and it works fine.
And I have to say, it did not leave me stranded anywhere along the road even with it's issue. I spotted the voltmeter hovering around 11 volts, and diden't try and drive it home.. at night...

Freind of mine with lots of dough has about 5 old British cars and five Porsches (modern) he keeps them in a storage facility he owns, the new cars are all hooked up to trickle chargers, the old cars weren't--modern cars have clocks, alarms, what not that drain the battery in a few weeks.
