I'm thinking about buying this for my 1959 TR3-A (TS43919L).

Anybody have any experience with this unit?

Pro's and Con's?

For that kind of money, I'd get the 123Ignition programmable distributor. Order it directly from the Netherlands, and it's surprisingly cheap; even at US prices, it beats the CSI thingy. It's a beautifully made product, with digital advance. You can select the exact advance curve for your car or program your own. That should help optimize it for modern fuels.

I have one of these on my Porsche. I got it before the programmable one was available; today I would get the programmable. It is pre-programmed with all the Porsche 912 advance curves, selectable by a switch. I am considering one for my TR4A.

If the programmability is intimidating, just get the standard one; there should be an appropriate advance curve already in it. Or, I think you could simply select the standard curve, then modify it as desired with the programming feature. Beyond that, it's just a direct replacement for the standard distributor.

Being a structural engineer ain't shabby. I'm an electrical engineer, but I don't know squat about structures.
