TR5/TR250 250/6 Head gasket

Hi All,

Looking for best head gasket and install proceedure
Seems that the heat here and guess age, 44 yrs has taken a toll in/ on the head gasket.
Pressure is good but have oil seeping out on driver side where head and block meet, nothing serious just enough to splatter a bit.
As always all thoughts are welcome and encouraged.

Thanks again,

Tony

When I put my head gasket on, I put sealant on both sides of the gasket only where it goes around the galleries for the lifters. I used Yamabond or Wellseal. Seems to have helped, although there is some oil seepage. Just enough to see and irritate me, since I wanted none.
I read some where to do this but I can't find it now.
Good Luck

Hey I resemble that remark.
Wellseal is a respected British product. Works well on Nortons.
Of course they (Norton's) also use gasgachinch on copper head gaskets.

That's a common leakage point. May be caused by excessive blow by or a restricted pvc or road draft tube (not sure which you have). Tee a vac/pressure gauge into the outlet on the pass side of the valve cover. If you've got much pressure, it could be causing the leak. You might also check the torque on the nuts on the studs.

Thanks for all of the great info guys, I have oil blowing out and don't like it
I am guessing the age is some fault plus I did notice a small amount of "milk"
when I removed the valve cover
I don't think I have too much restriction
but after I up graded the oil pump last spring the engine has been pressure washing itself as I have clogged 3 oil filters in 600 miles

Have you checked that the oil is feeding to the rockers as it should??? It sounds like you may have a blockage....
Milk in the cover is normal in small amounts.
If you do pull the head,cc the chamber and make sure that your compression ratio is at least 8.5/1 there are a lot of low comp heads out there..

MD,
I have not pulled the head yet but the blockage would make sense
What would be a "should" amount as I have nothing to gauge it with
I will pour a Cruzan and pull the VC and rockers
and take a peek

as for the milk I am seeing about 1 to 2 cc around the center pier

Thanks again for the direction MD
