And seven aluminum heads all waiting to be melted down into artwork. The pistons don't bother me that much but it's kinda weird melting down heads. The good thing is they are all from a machine shop scrap heap so it's not that bad.
 
So are you getting into the aluminum casting hobby? I'd like to try that myself, but probably not until after I retire.

And by then it will probably be as obsolete as I am!

(cans aren't a good source anyway due to the coatings used)


Randall, that's what the sail is made out of on the boat.

Just weighted it all on the trusty (not) bathroom scale. Seems I got 395#s for $130. I was paying $1 a pound at the yard so it's a great deal. $.32 a pound give or take. The heads seeme to be the best deal @ $.28 a #. Some heads still have valves and guides (future mixed media bits) so I figure $.50 a pound total after dross skimming is about right for the total lot. I prob'ly have ~ 450#s here now which should hopefullyhold me over fer a while.

Then again, hopefully not...:eagerness:
 
Your boat has a cast aluminum sail ?
