I have a friend using 195/65/15 tyres on alloy wheels, I think 5.5 inches width.
He has suspension lowered about 1 inch, looks great and no clearance problems.
I think 215 is too wide; you are sure to have a lot of "tramlining" on road grooves, heavy steering, and the weight of the wheel and tyre combination will be much more than the stock setup, which may make the suspension bouncy over bumps
and the car feel less responsive to steering inputs.
The bouniness is due to the shocks not being able to control the movements of a greater unsprung weight, and the steering
change is due to the gyroscopic effect of such a heavy wheel and tyre trying to continue to stay pointed in the same direction.
I don't mean to sound too discouraging, or imply that the car will be terrible to drive, these effects might be a reasonable trade-off for the change in appearance and improvement in grip, just depends on your preferences.
