I have gone with an engine build.
New carbs, fuel pump, distributor, etc.
But I’d make sure suspension bushes are ok
Steering links check
Brakes
And the rule book for any changes
And if applicable replace out of date parts like fire systems seat belts.

Fresh motor and after seating in the rings and taking a couple pulls to get the needles right with the triple SU HD8's and the new cam we still had the rev limiter set at a conservative 5800 rpm. After couple more pulls I was happy with 245hp and 260 ft lbs of torque with room to grow.
