2016 Mazda 3 Engine Advice

Our Son has a 2016 Mazda 3 with 129,000 miles on it that blew a head gasket.
He offered it to us for a really cheap price,& we'll probably take it.I'm checking
to see which engine it has (2.0 or 2.5) & how much a replacement engine would
run,& how much money & work this would end up being. Unfortunatly,it's an
automatic.
Does anyone know about Mazda 3s & what the strong & weak points are,
& anything else about them?

I had a Mazda 6 and family members had Mazdas as well - rust was the issue especially around the rear wheel wells.

At 10 years old I would cost it out Doug, even doing the work yourself you might be further ahead just buying something that runs.

Write it off. A new car with issues and an automatic isn't worth looking at, unless you plan on becoming a flipper.

Doug - I agree with Walter. Do you really need another project, one which will obviously cost you time and money? Maybe your son could handle this on his own.
