2008 Niello Concours at Serrano on Youtube

Hello all,

Now that my car has been restored and I'm happy to say it's my daily driver, I bring it to a lot of car shows.

When restoring I made the choice to be a nice driver, not a 100 points gold concours. (72 spoke stainless, finned valve cover, spin-on oil filter, plus some hidden items like a nav system behind the speaker grill).

I enjoy participating in car shows, for I believe it's really all about people expressing their fascination for the car your showing. Your story of the restoration and why you have this car and their memories or longing to have always wanted one or had a friend who had one.

My friends keep telling me to show my car at a concours event. I'm not a concours car I'd tell them.

Let's see if they'll even accept my application. Well to my surprise they did. It was the 2008 Niello concours at Serrano. Ever entered your car in a concours event? Not your local show. Two judges with clip boards looking everywhere and at everything. Asking a lot of questions.

Are these the factory rims?
Is this the factory valve cover?
Do you have a tool kit? Yes. Is that the factory tool kit? Yes...No....oh you mean with me?

The judges were very nice and even had a sense of humor. When the day was done, I was awarded second place. How about that.

If you ever have the chance to experience a concours show, you'll see some of the most beautiful cars in the world.

I took my camera and filmed the event. It was too long to upload as one video on Youtube. Attached is part one and two.

Cheers, Roger

Roger,

Nice video, it appears to have a diverse range of cars in attendance. I have found the car owners that really enjoy entering concours events and collecting hardware usually own "trailer queens". Don't get me wrong, I admire all types of preserved and well maintain automotive machinery, but if you don't use them regularly what's the purpose. For me dusting, polishing and detailing gets real old without the rewards of a long casual drive finished off with a great meal and a good bottle of vino.
I' m also curious if they own lawn mowers in Serrano. The length of the grass at the concours reminded me of the wheat fields in Eastern Oregon before harvest. I would have hated to drop my keys, you'd never find them.

Way to go Roger! Second place at a concours is pretty impressive.
