So, yeah, I got a 2008 Lancer after I lost my MGB. One thing I've noticed about this car is the engine sounds a LOT like a finely tuned MGB engine at tick over. It has that smooth "sewing machine" ticking sound at idle.
I've replaced the stock shifter unit with a TWM short shifter, and it feels a LOT like the MG's shifter now too. It has solid feed back when switching cogs to let me know when I've successfully hit the destination.
With the rack-and-pinion steering the response and turn radius is very similar to what I had in the B.
For a modern car, I think it has character. However, it's nothing like driving an MGB. There's a whole bunch of little things, not to mention the one HUGE difference of having no roof on the B, that my current car can't come close to delivering in driving experience as a whole.
Yeah, the AC is nice... and so is the practicality of the thing... but I miss the "freedom" of the B....
