The annual Missouri Endurance Rally and mini-endurance rally will be held Saturday & Sunday, April 1-2 this year in St. Louis. Open to all pre-1981 British made vehicles. Teams will meet in St Louis, Missouri and rally around the state.

The Missouri Endurance Rally and Mini-Endurance Trial is a "distance only" rally where teams are given a set of locations to reach (the mini-rally has half the stops of the full-rally). Each team must determine the best order and best route to take to the locations. The team making it back to the start within the allotted time, while covering the least number of miles, wins.

For more information, contact Robert Rushing mgslime@swbell.net
or call (314) 995-8664

11th Annual Missouri Endurance Rally & 4th Annual Missouri Mini-Endurance Test
April 1 – 2, 2006

We will be meeting at the Hooters of Maryland Heights, MO (11835 Lackland Rd, St Louis, Missouri) at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1st. Teams will have until 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 2nd to reach all the locations that are given at the meeting, answer the required questions, and make it back to the parking lot of Hooters of Maryland Heights. The team covering the least number of miles wins. Any team that arrives after 9 a.m. is disqualified. We will then have an awards ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Before the teams leave on Saturday morning, they will drive a set course to calculate any mileage offset that they may have with their odometers. The offset will be determined mathematically. Also before leaving, teams will be required to sign an event waiver then seal their driver’s license in an envelope. Any team that gets stopped and has to break the seal on the envelope is disqualified. Teams must drive in a safe manner and obey all Missouri traffic laws.

Those competing in the 4th Annual Missouri Mini-Endurance Test will also meet at Hooters and participate in the mileage check run. After the check run, teams will be given a list of locations and will have until midnight that night to make it back to the start. Teams arriving after midnight will be disqualified. The awards ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. Sunday.

What to bring:

Car & Co-Driver, Maps, Tools/Spares/Fluids, Cell Phone, Emergency phone numbers, Clipboard, Flashlight, Calculator, Pens/pencils/highlighters

If you wish to stay the night before and/or after the rally, the recommended hotel is the Red Roof Inn Westport, which is located behind the Hooters at 11837 Lackland Rd. Their number is (314) 991-4900.

If you have questions or need a registration application, please contact Robert Rushing at mgslime@swbell.net or write to him at 5444 Sutherland Ave, St Louis MO 63109.

I am planning on attending-Now give me some expert advise on how to do this rally-Come on one little tip could make a difference? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Man, if I had some expert advice and tips, ya think I'd share???
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

This is my FIRST rally! We're doing the 12 hour rally first go, then onto the 24 hour rally next year. Watch for
"Team Femme G." Most likely my car, Emma, the red one, because Stefanie is still rebuilding her engine.

The only tip I can suggest is to pick up a copy of The Gazetteer, it must be invaluable. I believe Amazon has it.

DElimon, where are you in IL?

Denny lives in Mahomet...just outside of Champaign.

Now there is a Rally man that could give us a tip or two! Come on Rick give us some expert advise!! HA! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

Yea, I think you probably would help with some information on the rally!! Maybe we should both pepper Bob with some e-mails for some tip ? We are planning on the twenty four hour run, never done one & may never do another one, so wanted to go for the big one!! Denny Mahomet,Illinois /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Ah, you'll do another one.

Hey, Denny, you think if we get Robert & Rick all likkered up the night before the rally, we could get some tips out of them? I offered to test run the routes for Robert to make sure they were okay...

I guess it's worth a try-A little bubbly may loosen them up, we are planning on arriving p.m. on the 31st at the Red Roof Inn-do you have any idea how many are signed up? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

No, but I'll know Monday after our car club meeting and Robert gives an update.

Hmmm. Maybe Stef and I should come out there and get ALL you guys likkered up. Nothing like a whopping hangover and time change to liven things up a bit.

Talked to Robert. 10 registered for the full 24 hour rally, 4 for the 12 hour. But I'm sure there's several, like me, that haven't registered yet.

Advise?

Trust your judgement the first time.

Never trust the Gazetteer 100% of the time.

Always use a different colour highlighter for each year's rallye lest you inadvertently begin to follow the previous year's route. (Ask me how I know this.)

Always trust the rallyemaster.

Real men ask questions.

Shut up and drive -or- shut up and navigate. You cannot do both.

A little inside info that Rick will verify, the rallymaster is a cruel, ruthless bastage!!! Ask anyone that's run the MER in the past.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Naw...Robert's not a b*st*rd. He's still in training!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

I would have posted a picture from Logger's Lake..(where Robert truly earned his reputation of "The Evil One"....but it was SO DARK and SO WET and SO COLD....there is none available in my files....BUT...here's one from about 2002 or so...and this crossing wasn't even the deepest that we experienced on that rallye!

Logger's Lake. The place that wasn't ON the maps???

Rick, that looks like the low water bridge we cross when we go to our friends' house that live outside Eldon in Saline Valley, down by Lake of the Ozarks!!!

Man, I don't know if I could drive Emma through that!

I *think* this one was down by Branson. We've crossed so many of them, I've lost track.

On one rallye we crossed the same creek three different times within about 1/2 mile. First two crossings weren't too bad. The third time it was a little deeper and the current a little faster than we had anticipated. We made it just north of Monet, MO before we lost all electricals due to a shorted out battery (the creek was so deep that we had water over the top edge of the battery, shorting it out.)

Ok, if the Rallymaster is a cruel, ruthless bastard, let's all meet somwhere on the rally, call him and when he arrives, just all line up and follow him around? We could then change his title from Rallymaster to Parade Master!
