2006 Mini Cooper S

Hello Mini Forum, First post.
I'm looking at a Mini Cooper S W/ 140000+ mi. and were at $3500.00
I've never driven a mini but this one has a 6 speed manual and when approaching red line I feel like a kid.
I have had British cars but they were all normally aspirated.
My question is what should be my concerns about the condition of the mechanicals.
That is rather broad. The car feels tight through the gears and in the curves.
Any input is welcome.
Jim

It's good that you are asking these questions prior to diving in to purchasing a car with this kind of mileage.

You may also want to pose the same questions on North American Motoring. That's a robust and very active site that is completely dedicated to the new MINI.

For what it's worth, 7 years ago I sold my '06 Cooper S after 130,000 trouble free and fun filled miles. I bought it new and have not one single regret after 8 years of ownership. A supercharger replacement was the only major expense but it was covered by an extended warranty.

Thanks Scargo,
I'll check that site. I'll also try and contact the PO and find receipts and service records. Some work must have been done on this example as there are no alarming noises at high revs.

I can guarantee that the one high rpm sound that you will never get tired of hearing is that of the supercharger when you put your foot in it.

I have had my 2003 for 17 yrs. Run hard and have no problems at 78,000 miles. Has been Autocrossed, Time Trialed, Performance Driven Experinces, and Rallyed. Been really good as all maintenance was done at half dealer intervals and inspected before every session. Been to Fla twice and Pa once. All in the care.
