2006 La Carrera Pan Americana

Offline
Two MG enthusiasts are currently in Mexico for the annual running of the Carrera PanAmericana....

I've gotten several e-mails from George (Sullivan) and Tom (Boes) - both from Grand Rapids, Michigan - since they arrived in Mexico for the 2006 running of the Carrera PanAmericana.

The official website had been updated today..but only in Spanish (maybe I forgot to 'Press 1 for English')

The Dover Brothers are team #283

George said that both he and Tom passed their physicals (gotta wonder how THAT happened)...the Volvo passed tech inspection...and they finished mid-pack during the qualifying runs...which saw the end of the road for several competitors due to accidents and mechanical failures.

The BlogSpot has been updated and has some GREAT photos!

The Dover Brothers are having the time of their lives!

This looks like a LOT of fun!

Re: 2006 Carrera Pan Americana

I just received this post from Jorge:

"we lost at least 11 cars today a couple rollovers one in a river and a lot of blown engines Thanks to Jim Blett we are still in the running. been lots of work we had 6 speed sections today and passed 3 cars .went from sea level to 4800 feet. so far the car is doing really well. there must have been hundreds of people in all of the villages today. we stopped and signed autographs we are f*&#ng heros down here .and the locals are good people .
We are heading to Puebla tomorrow with atleast 6 speed sections .
Vive La Volvo
Tomas annd Jorge."
