Here's a little running report on the 2006 Turkey Run car show/swap-meet at Daytona Beach. The show runs from Thursday-Sunday every year on Thanksgiving weekend at the Daytona International Speedway. Last year there were over 5000 entries to the show. Show cars are limited to pre-1980 vehicles.
I hadn't been to the show in several years, and it's changed quite a bit. They used to have an area around the garages reserved for "cars for sale". Since they renovation of the garage/infield a couple of years ago they've moved the area closer to the center of the infield, creating a massive stretch of cars for sale. Today there were the usual assembly of various Ford and Chevy products of all years and models, a couple of MGs, a collection of replica/kit-cars, and a few odds and ends. The prices were - um - interesting. There was a relatively nice MGB-GT with decent paint and a dented front fender for $10,500. Late 60s-70s Corvettes were priced from $11,000-$77,000. A late '60s Camaro had a note in the window "Great Buy - only $89,000".
Not a lot of British-Iron there. That isn't unexpected at what has traditionally been a street rod show. I found 4 MGs, a TR8 (for sale, no price), a TVR, a handful of antique Rolls Royce, and a couple of Jaguars. One of our club members reserved a club parking area, hopefully more of the club people will bring cars over the weekend.
The photo gallery is a little sparse - I made a quick run through the hundreds of cars that were there, then hit the shopping areas for the rest of the day. In any event, here is today's gallery. Enjoy!
