20-Month Restoration Nearing Completion

We bought our '67 BJ8 in 1975 and drove it for four years before parking it to address some minor cosmetic problems. Thirty-seven years later in May of 2016 it finally entered that problem resolution phase in the form of a full restoration. Now it is ready for a test drive and we are planning (hoping?) to have it at The Gathering (British Car Show) in Dobson, NC the weekend of 20 April, 2018. The pics below are 1980 and this weekend.

Bravo, looks great! What is the upper color? Looks unusual and very sharp.

So how did you finish it so fast? 20 months is just a blink in Healey restoration time...

Thanks, Jedi

Well, the work started very shortly after I retired, but it's quick because of professional help. Confession time: Neither color is factory, but it is supposed to appear to be Black over OEW until you get close. It is a dark grey metallic over an off-white metallic.

Great!!! You must be one happy fellow. Looks good from here! Happy motoring, Elrey. :driving:

Hi KB,

I am always amazed by the fact that so many Healeys were originally purchased in their early life but never relinquished when becoming impractical for a growing family and growing responsibilities, only to be reborn to transport their owners back to that younger time. Although you should be very proud of the skills exhibited in achieving your Healey's rebirth, just wait till you take it out on a nice spring day and your mind flashes with thoughts you haven't had for decades.

Enjoy your beautiful Healey for at least as long as you've already owned her,

Ray,

You couldn't possibly have summed it up any better than that! Why else would you pay to include a derelict Healey in the moving van when pulling up stakes and relocating 1000 miles to be near your grandchildren?

The small world thing applies here, too. My wife and I are both originally from New Jersey.
